Poor conditions of old nunnery quarters
Retreat Participants
THANKYOU
FOR HELPING THE NUNS OF DECHEN CHOLING NUNNERY, located near Yushu, in
Kham, eastern Tibet. The nunnery only has accomodation for eighty nuns
with another 200 living with family and in villages since all the
original buildings were destroyed during the cultural revolution. The
nuns use a small hut as their temple and their retreat facilities are
in poor condition even by Tibetan standards. Foundations have been laid
for their new temple, but there was no money to continue the work. CAN
YOU HELP? The nuns dedicate their lives to practice and achieving
liberation for the benefit of all sentient beings with many completing
the traditional three year Lama retreat. The nuns often tolerate very
difficult circumstances and hardships in the pursuit of their aims.
What food and clothing they have are provided by their often very poor
families and by donations. One hundred percent of your donation will go
to supporting the nun's new temple and accommodation.
Donations can be directed to
the Ven Sonam Tenzin Rinpoche, Ph info +(61)439 349 613, Email: jampalsonam.tenzin@gmail.com

in a traditional three year three month retreat undergo many
austerities such as meditating, chanting and sleeping in their
meditation box (Tib. gomter). This box is about one metre square, nuns
(called ani's in Tibet) exert much effort and diligence in order to
